About Us

Porter's Day Care & Educational Center, located in the Logan section of Philadelphia, is a non-profit child care center with impressive credentials. We have been in business for over 45 years. Porter's is a fully licensed PA Keystone 4 Star site, with national accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This center offers FREE Pre-K services in partnership with PhilaSD, as well as a year round toddler program, and summer programs. The unique aspect of the center is our long-standing presence in the community.

MISSION STATEMENT

Porter’s Day Care and Educational Center (PDCEC) is charged with caring for children at their most rapid period of growth. We are dedicated to developing age-appropriate activities that will meet each child’s individual needs while promoting confidence and security. It is our mission to ensure that every child moves from where s/he is socially and academically to where s/he should be.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

Each child develops mentally, physically, socially and emotionally at his/her own rate.  This is a continuous process, which needs to be guided and directed, but not hurried.  In planning experiences and adapting materials to meet individual growth patterns, Porter’s staff must guide the child at his/her own rate of learning.

Children differ in interest, attitude and abilities.  It is our responsibility to provide a well-organized, hands-on classroom, which meets the needs of children at their respective levels of development.
